ANGEL FIRE – Mayor Barbara Cottam has announced the resignation of Councilor Brinn Colenda from the Angel Fire Village Council, effective Nov. 7. Councilor Colenda has served on the Village Council for one and a half terms and has served on several Village Committees as council liaison.

“Linda and I are going to take some health and rejuvenation time,” Colenda told The Chronicle in a telephone interview. “We are going to spend several months in Panama. We’ve been there several times. I was stationed in Bolivia for two years and our headquarters was in Panama. We have friends there. It’s really handy having a wife who’s fluent in Spanish. I’m going to have to work on my Spanish!”

Colenda said it was his decision to resign because, “I would be gone too long. I would love to stay on the council. I think we have accomplished a lot of good things in the past 6 years I’ve been on the council. We’re not severing our ties with angel Fire. We have a condo here. We’ll be back in May for tennis season. Linda really enjoys the tennis program here.”

Colenda’s council position will be filled by mayoral appointment, with approval of the council, at the next regular meeting on Nov. 7. The new councilor will serve until the next election in March 2018.
