Angel Fire group hosting ‘Politics & the Pulpit’ panel discussion

Four area pastors featured Saturday afternoon

Wheeler Peak Progressives (WPP) is hosting “Politics & the Pulpit” featuring four local pastors 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 11) at FNB New Mexico in Angel Fire. The public is welcome to attend.

“Ever mindful of politics in our day-to-day lives, we have an interesting program that will tackle politics and our religious leaders,” said Linda Hughes, a founding member of WPP.  “Subject matter may include: Using the pulpit for political purposes, separation of church and state, and how to (or if to) handle politics in houses of worship.”  Each panelist will speak for 5 minutes, and then there will be opportunity for audience questions.

Panelists are: Rev. Mike Olsen of St. James Episcopal Church, Taos; Rev. Joe Phillips, First Baptist Church of Red River; Rev. Richard Safford, United Church of Angel Fire; and Rev. Pamela Shepherd, Taos United Community Church.

WPP members will have a brief members-only meeting in Executive Session before the program from 2 – 2:30 p.m.
