Red River

Enchanted Forest offers stunning vistas along meandering forest trails for hiking and mountain biking. It is a 2-mile hike (or bike) to the Long John Yurt (no driving). This is camping (we call it “glamping”), not a hotel room. There is no room or maid service. A wood stove provides heat. You must provide your own sleeping bag (at least 30º or colder rating recommended), pillow, food, drinking water.

The Long John is 20′ in diameter and has beds for 6 to 8: 4 twin and 2 double futon sofa beds. The beds are comfortable but you will need to bring your own bedding, specifically, a sleeping bag or bags.
Enchanted Forest offers rolling terrain that make hiking, trail running or mountain biking a dream for everyone from novice to expert: no fee required. Check our website for a trail map.
Although Enchanted Forest is near Red River, you cannot drive right to the yurt. You must provide your own “human-powered” transport (hike or mountain bike in summer).
Enchanted Forest is located on NM HWY 38 in the Carson National Forest just 3.5 miles east of Red River, New Mexico – gateway to the Wheeler Peak Wilderness Area and the Columbine Hondo Wilderness Study Area. It is a short 45-minute drive from Taos and the Wild Rivers section of the new Rio Grande del Norte National Monument; 2 hours from Santa Fe; 3 hours from Albuquerque; 3.5 hours from Colorado Springs and 4.5 hours from Denver.
