Calhoun, Cherry and newcomer Covington top Red River polls

Red River Mayor Linda Calhoun and fellow incumbent councilor Steve Cherry are joined by newcomer Sloan Covington in today’s March 6 election, according to unofficial results provided by Georgiana Rael, Municipal Clerk & Town Administrator.

Of the 220 votes cast, Calhoun received 137 votes to challenger Courtney Henderson’s 81. Cherry and Covington received 161 and 129, respectively, defeating Jeff Brown, who garnered 66 votes.

“I just want to thank everyone that came out and voted,” Calhoun told The Chronicle via text message. “We have great things in our future.”
