Trinidad State Shooting Team Holding Fundraiser

November 15, starting at 9 a.m., the Trinidad State Clays Shooting Team will hold a trap and skeet competition at the Prator Gun Range southeast of Trinidad.  Shooters will compete in three categories: Men, Women and Junior (under 18 years old).  Junior competitors must be accompanied by an adult.  Contestants must provide their own shotgun and ammunition.

SPRINGER—The Cimarron Lady Rams dropped a District 1A match to the second-ranked Lady Red Devils of Springer in Springer on Saturday, October 5th. “Springer has been well coached and is very experienced, it’ll be a tough match,” noted Lady Ram coach Alberta Martinez prior to the District 1A opener.

Open house on IH-25 game fence set for Thursday, Nov. 20

The New Mexico Department Of Transportation, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration and the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, is proposing to install 8-foot high game fencing to prevent mule deer and other large animals from entering the I-25 right-of-way and causing wildlife-vehicle collisions.  These accidents can cause property damage and injuries to the travelling public.  Double cattleguards and wildlife escape ramps would also be installed to further help reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions.  Residents, landowners, motorists, and all interested parties are encouraged to attend and provide comments, concerns, and suggestions regarding this project.

Folfers look at developing new disc golf course

RED RIVER — A proposal from Red River Ski Area would add nine new holes of disc golf at the top of the Green Chair near the Ski Tip Restaurant. The proposed course at the summit of the mountain would occupy about 16-acres that fall within the ski area’s existing permit.
