Help clean up the Cimarron River!
Volunteers are asked to meet at the Palisades Picnic Area at 8:30 a.m. Saturday Aug. 8 for the 8th Annual River Roundup at Cimarron Canyon State Park.
Join the Friends of Cimarron Canyon and the Moreno Valley Trekkers as they pick up litter along the banks of the Cimarron River, which flows through a narrow, forested canyon near Eagle Nest on the Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway.
A brief safety meeting will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. Gloves, safety vests and bags will be provided. All volunteers are asked to please bring rubber boots. Free goodies and refreshments will be served.
According to a state parks press release, Cimarron Canyon State Park, located on US Highway 64, offers beautiful views, interesting geology, quiet camping, fly fishing, hiking and equestrian trails. The wildlife viewing opportunities are amazing, as the park sits at the center of the Colin Neblett Wildlife Management Area.
