Cimarron man arrested in connection with five new buglaries

CIMARRON — Cimarron Police Chief Lee Ferguson and Officer Chris McGuinness arrested Gary Sanchez, 19, of Cimarron, in connection with five burglaries that happened in and around the Village Hall early this morning (April 22).

Ferguson initially responded to a 911 call in regards to a burglary in progress at the Village Hall at 4:15 a.m. and soon called in McGuinness for backup. Offices burglarized include the Library, Village Hall, Water Department, Chamber of Commerce and Health Care Center. Investigations are in progress to evaluate the damages and determine if Sanchez is connected with the Cimarron High School and other burglaries October.

Sanchez is charged with five counts of felony burglary, one count of battery on a police officer, two counts of resisting and evading and five counts of criminal damage. See updated story in the next issue of the <em>Sangre de Cristo Chronicle</em>.
