“America’s hottest accordion player”, one of America’s best “smart, sharp” new songwriters,a socially-conscious Latin party machine, and more will come to the inaugural Festival Eclectica June 16 at Colfax County Airport, Angel Fire.

The new music festival will take place during the weekend of Balloons Over Angel Fire, the village’s annual hot air balloon celebration (June 15-17) to create a dazzling and extraordinary weekend of fun food, and amazing music!

Tickets for Festival Eclectica are available at the Village of Angel Fire Visitor Center, Chamber of Commerce and Shuter Library or online at festivaleclectica.brownpapertickets.com. For more information, call Also or by phone at 575-377-6755 or see festivaleclectica.info.

The festival will feature renowned Zydeco accordionist, singer/songwriter and Grammy-nominee, Dwayne Dopsie (son of the legendary Rockin’ Dopsie, Sr.) with his group the Zydeco Hellraisers who perform a unique, high energy style of Zydeco, inspired by tradition, yet blazing blazes a refreshingly distinct path for 21st century Zydeco music. Although inspired by tradition, Dwayne has developed his own high energy style that defies existing stereotypes and blazes a refreshingly distinct path for 21st century Zydeco music.

Singer/songwriter, Taos native son and all around cosmic cowboy Max Gomez also joins the bill on the heels of his critically acclaimed CD Me and Joe that Rolling Stone called “smooth and sparkly…promising a newfound eclecticism” and a whirlwind national tour that has taken him from Taos to Nashville, LA to NYC, Austin to Chicago, and NOLA to Angel Fire! Max’s songs that have been compared to John Prine and Jackson Brown and the wise, world weariness of Kris Kristofferson.

The award-winning pan-Latin group Baracutanga, made up of members from Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and US, will also be on hand with their one-of-a-kind arrangements of traditional South American rhythms in new and interesting ways creating a blend that will simply not allow you to keep still!

Festival Eclectica will be rounded out by the carnival stylings of Band Atomica (look for their early morning parade during the balloon ascension!) and the old-time Appalachian music of Red Rocking Chair!

Visitors will also be able to enjoy tasty snacks and meals from food trucks and one-of-a-kind arts and crafts from our eclectic array of New Mexico Artisan vendors. For information on vending and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Scott Jones, Friends of Shuter Library treasurer@shuterlibrary.net or 575.377.6223.
