Galway Ireland poet Kevin Higgins will perform his poetry at several locations around Northern New Mexico beginning with the following venues:

  • Tuesday (June 5) 6 p.m. at Zeb’s Restaurant & Bar, 3431 Mountain View Blvd. in Angel Fire (with poets Kristian Macaron and Aaron Trumm). Free. (This is part of an ongoing series of free literary readings in Angel Fire: “Angel Fire Poetry & Prose.”)
  • Wednesday (June 6) 7 p.m. at SOMOS, 108 Civic Plaza, in Taos (with poets Kristian Macaron and Aaron Trumm). Free.

Higgins will be happy to sell and sign copies of his books at both these readings, which are part of his statewide reading tour of New Mexico conducted under the slogan, “Make America Higgins Again!.”

Higgins has been called both “Ireland’s most read poet” and “Ireland’s most political poet” in recent Irish-publication articles. His latest book of poetry, “Song of Solomon 2.0”, published by Salmon Poetry, is filled with typically acerbic wit and keenly felt emotion. His readings are always entertaining and amusing and likely to incite both thought and laughter.

Higgins is co-organiser of Over The Edge literary events in Galway. He teaches poetry workshops at Galway Arts Centre, Creative Writing at Galway Technical Institute, and is Creative Writing Director for the NUI Galway Summer School. He is poetry critic of The Galway Advertiser. His poetry has been translated into Greek, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, & Portuguese.
