Please be sure to shop this Friday and Saturday (Dec. 18 and 19) in the entryway at Lowe’s Market at the Christmas Kitchen Bake Sale to boost our local ALM food pantry. The sale is noon to 5 p.m. each day or until baked items run out.
Always Loving Mankind Food Pantry president, Cynthia Collier of Black Lake, says ALM delivers food to 157 people in our area. “We serve nine households in Eagle Nest, 17 in Angel Fire and Black Lake, and 47 in Cimarron.”
Collier provided stats on the people served: 64 males and 93 females. Of those, 43 are under 18 and 51 are over 60.
ALM board members are responsible for fundraising to buy groceries, keep the ALM van running and insured, and other minor expenses. There is no paid staff. The ALM budget is $20,000 to $25,000. The Angel Fire Community Foundation is also a major contributor in addition to generous individual donors.
ALM Board members and friends will spread out delicious goodies to spare you from your Christmas baking!
Cakes, all types of cookies, brownies, muffins, almond coffee cakes, cupcakes, zucchini bread, pumpkin pecan bread, banana bread, cranberry orange nut bread, and pies – 3 chocolate and chocolate mousse pies and others.
There will be gluten free goodies: a Chocolate Walnut Cake, a Chestnut Torte and more.
And unique offerings: Pinon Blue Corn Muffins and Sopapilla Coffee Cakes.
Don’t miss this delicious event!
