Oklahoman tops first disc golf tourney

Trae Carson from Norman, Oklahoma, reigned supreme with a score of 59 for 18 baskets in the first-ever Disc Golf Tournament at Eagle Nest Lake State Park Saturday (July 7).

According to event organizer and participant, Greg Nesbitt, 15 people competed with the following results:

  • Tournament Champion, Trae Carson with a score of 59 for 18;
  • Tournament Runner-Up, Dylan Green from Angel Fire, with a score of 63 for 18.

Adult 18+

  • 1st Place – Trae Carson, Norman, Oklahoma;
  • 2nd Place – Dylan Green, Angel Fire;
  • 3rd Place – Cody Bradley, Albuquerque.

Adult 40+

  • 1st Place – Paul Romero, Bosque Farms and Eagle Nest.

Senior 55+

  • 1st Place – Greg Nesbit, Eagle Nest;
  • 2nd Place – Larry Bradley – Angel Fire;
  • 3rd Place – Elden Berglund – Eagle Nest.

“Tournament Champion Trae Carson rattled the chains with his drive on ZIANADO, (Basket #5) for an easy birdie,” Nesbitt said. “Anna Aragon and Bryce Nesbit both landed a disc on top of the basket; and JoAnn Joubert, 72 years of age, completed 10 baskets before retiring from the intense Moreno Valley sun. What a trooper!”
