MORA — The Cimarron Running Rams, will be seeking a berth in the New Mexico State Cross-country championships, when they compete in the District 5A-AA championship on Friday (Oct. 30) in Mora.
“We had a weekend off to work on getting faster, a lot of speed work,” said Running Rams Coach Patricia LeDoux. “The kids are in shape, they just need to get out there and race.”
The District 5A-AA meet will start at 1 p.m. with the Lady Rams toeing the line first, while the Ram boys will run at approximately 1:30 p.m. The meet will be run at the Pendaries Golf Course near Rociada.
District 5A-AA consists of Cimarron, Des Moines, Maxwell, Mesa Vista, Mora and Penasco.
The top three teams and the top three individuals from non-qualifying teams will qualify for the state championships.
The state championships will be hosted by Rio Rancho High school and is slated for Saturday (Nov. 7). Opening ceremonies will start at 9:15 a.m., while the Class A-AA girls toe the starting line at 11 a.m. and the Class A-AA boys scheduled to start at 1:35 p.m.
